Platinum UTEE 21st Card

I recently made this 6 x 6 Trifold card for a musical friend for his 21st Birthday.

I love the drama of the Tim Holtz 'David' stamp, the Wendy Vecchi Archival Reinker & Alcohol                                                      background and the UTEE heat embossed 21.

The Background was made on Specialty Stamping Paper.
I used a few drops of Aquamarine & Coffee Reinkers & Rubbing Alcohol
with one drop of Pearl Alcohol Ink.
The Tim Holtz Stamps were Stamped in Jet Black Archival & Clear Heat Embossed.
The face was masked off then the Tim Holtz Web Stencil was used with Antique Linen & Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

The 21 & the ink splotch were made using Tim Holtz Stencils.  A mixture of platinum and clear UTEE was applied with the embossing dabber through the stencil & melted with a heat gun.

Random Music stamps were added with Watering can Archival Ink. The Card base is Coredinations Cracked Kraft Cardstock. Matting with kraft card stamped with Cracked pattern.

I went a bit crazy using UTEE over all sorts of stamping.

These two were over Tarnished Brass and Pewter Distress Stain.
Love this mottled effect.

February Make Art Challenge - HEARTS

On the Make Art Challenge Blog they celebrate all things Wendy Vecchi.
For the month of February the Challenge is "HEARTS"

Thanks to the Funkie Junkie Boutique for sponsoring a prize.

I made a wall plaque as a home decor piece.

I started with a chipboard base, over which I smeared a random thin layer of Metallic Gold embossing paste with a palette knife (which dries almost immediately)
Over this I spread a layer of Crackled Texture Paste. Varying the thickness & coverage.
The photo below is of another piece I covered at the same time but it gives the general idea.
Leave to dry overnight for the best crackle finish.

The Gold embossing paste shines through the cracks and areas thinly covered with crackle.
The size of the cracks vary with the thickness of the Crackled Texture Paste.
Wendy has a video demoing this technique at CHA 2014 by ScrapTime Videos.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FiHXorDKoo

The Lace background stamp was applied with Black Archival Ink with the center masked out with a circle cut from scrap typing paper.
Makes a 'fancy spotlight frame' as Wendy describes this technique on her blog.

The Lace border Stamp from Beauty of Art set was stamped in Vermilion Archival on the top & bottom of the piece.
Mesh background Stamp randomly applied with Watering can Archival Ink

The background was colored using Wendy Vecchi Sunray & Tim Holtz Flourish Stencils & various Archival Inks (Cornflower Blue, Dandelion & Sap Green) (Orange Blossom & Dandelion) with a finger dauber sponge.
Scattered Straw & Tumbled Glass Distress Inks also lightly rubbed over to bring out the crackle finish.

The Heart Embellishment was made from Corrugated cardboard covered with strips of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape & then cut out.
Colored with Cornflower Blue Archival Ink & sprayed with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist.

The Small Rosette was diecut from Graphic 45 papers.
Gold Embossing paste was used through Wendys stencils to add the row of stars to the heart & the larger star to the rosette.
Once dry the edges of the plaque, the rosette & the heart were all swiped with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain to match the Gold Embossed stars.

The Sentiment was stamped in black Archival ink & clear heat embossed. The words are a combination from various Studio 490 stamp sets.
The wire came from my stash & was shaped by coiling around a pen.  The butterfly was a wooden laser cut colored with archival ink, & finally added some of Tim Holtz's Linen Ribbon.

I really loved the backgound technique used in this piece. I found it hard to cover it up. Wanted to leave most of it exposed.  Lots of texture. Really fun to make.

Thanks for taking the time to read.  Hope you are inspired to try some of these techniques too.

January 2015 Sketch Challenge ATT Yahoo Group (Altered Tattered & Timeworn)

Hi There,
The January Sketch Challenge for ATT is very pretty with a Doily & Circles.
The pattern made me think of making a Trifold Card.

I applied Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap with Prima Soft Matte Gel.
The Circles Punched & Stamped with Tim Holtz Tiny Things & Heidi Swapp House of Three Stamps on Watercolor Paper.

Colored with Luminarte Twinkling H2O's & shaded with Pumice Stone Distress Marker using a fine tip water brush.

Beautiful Wendy Vecchi sentiment stamped inside.

The Ribbon Banner is from Teresa Collins.
Edges of card, doily & circles swiped with Pewter Distress Stain.

Thanks for taking the time to look

Wendy Vecchi Inspired Journal.

Hi Readers,

I loved the way this Wendy Vecchi inspired piece turned out, so I had to turn it into something I will use every day.      So I made it into a journal. Hope you like it too.

The Make Art Challenge Blog is running a Monthly Challenge.  # 1  being to use Embossing Paste and at least one Wendy Vecchi Product.

I wanted to share the journal I had so much fun creating below & enter in this challenge.

The link to the challenge is: http://makeartchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/2015/01/make-art-challenge-1-embossing-paste.html

Wendy has fantastic descriptions of techniques on her blog, Studio 490.  So worth reading back through her posts. You will love it.
I started the background of this project on Specialty Stamping Paper. I used Wendy's Archival Reinker Background Technique using Rubbing Alcohol, Fern Green, Aquamarine & Coffee Archival Reinkers & a drop of gold alcohol ink.      I traced the inner circle with a charcoal pencil.

I swiped randomly around the edges of the page with Studio 490 Crackle Texture Paste & left to dry overnight.  I rubbed over frayed burlap distress ink & wiped off to show up the cracks.

I covered a piece of Clearly for Art with random torn pieces of music paper & old dictionary paper. Applied with gel medium.  When dry, I cut out the flower & leaves using Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals & Garden Greens die.  I applied Archival Ink colours with foam applicators. I heated & shaped the pieces. They are so sturdy.  I stamped the bird & sentiment with Black Archival Ink before clear heat embossing.

Stencilling was done with Archival inks & finger dauber sponges. Red Lead & Studio 490 stencils used.  Gold Embossing paste used for the stars. Love the lace stamped edge with Wendy's stamp & Watering can Archival Ink.
Tim Holtz Lattice Framework die cut used.

The back cover was made later. Gorgeous sentiments using Wendy's Stamps. The flying birds are cut from kraft core cardstock with Sizzix strip die & sanded.

I just love the texture and depths using Wendy's products & techniques create.

I  mounted front & back pages on thick black cardboard.  The edges are swiped with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain. Clear UTEE heat embossed over this. Holes punched etc.

So Glad you could stop by & share my Wendy Vecchi Inspiration.
Cheers Debbie Adams

PS: Wendy's new release of products at CHA 2015 are fantastic!!  Shame I live in Australia, postage from the USA curbs my spending for the moment.
