Looking forward to lots of creativity in 2016.
Stencilling with Texture, Crackle & Black Embossing Paste,
I decided to cover a 'boring' plain Notebook & an alphabetical Address Book for use in our study.
The alphabetical pages will allow me to list all those log in details for social media and other sites.
I wanted to dress them up so they are always easy to find in our office.
To give them a masculine feel I decided to use techniques I learnt at a Finnabair Workshop at 'Hobby Sew' in Echuca last November.
THESE ARE THE TECHNIQUES I USED:
Black Gesso was applied to the outside surfaces with a paint brush & allowed to dry.
Tim Holtz Stencils were used with Wendy Vecchi Black Embossing Paste randomly across the surface of the larger book.
Tim Holtz & Prima Finnabair Stencils were used with Wendy Vecchi crackled texture paste on the smaller notebook.
Other paper die cuts were added with 3D matte gel from Finnabair Art Basics & extra texture added with Prima Art extravagance snowflake paste (which has a grit & glitter mixed in it) applied with a palette knife.
Once dry all of the texture on these covers was highlighted by dry brushing with Silks Acrylic Glazes & Mica powders from Prima Art Ingredients & Primary Elements from Luminarte.
Colours such as Nutmeg, Rust, Autumn skies, Emperor's Gold, Forest Green, Teal zircon were applied.
The effect is subtle but almost metallic to look at. I can't stop touching the texture.
Close up of the crackle circles & the surfaces. Hope you try this out too.
CHEERS, DEB
